Sony launches $2500 Xperia Pro creative professionals can't afford to ignore

Sony states that the Xperia Pro is meant for professional users, and it's best to buy the Xperia 1 II if you want to get a premium Sony smartphone. It has a one of a kind 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED display, a Snapdragon 865 chipset, triple 12MP camera that offers phase-detect autofocus on all sensors with support for human and animal eye autofocus and 20 fps shooting with AF (autofocus) and AE (auto exposure).

That input is key for the Pro's target audience of imaging professionals.

$2,499.99 may seem ludicrous for what essentially amounts to a $1,199.99 phone with an additional port, but Sony is banking on customers comparing the Pro to non-phone equipment that could do the same job: an external 4K monitor, laptop, and portable hotspot could easily run thousands of dollars and wouldn't be almost as portable or seamless. The device was announced alongside the Xperia 1 II and Xperia 10 II in February a year ago, however, it was not available for purchase. This isn't one for the fans. Moreover, there was speculation that Sony delayed the update for the Sony Xperia 5 II as well for the same reasons.

When connected to a camera with a micro HDMI, the Xperia Pro can be used as a 4K monitor.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra to feature a low powered OLED display
The Galaxy S21 Ultra is Samsung's third flagship phone to be promoted by Jimmy Fallon over the past couple of years. Counterpoint Research said increasing demand for unlocked phones will push up the sales of the Galaxy S21.

Sony is also leveraging 5G (both Sub-6GHz and mmWave) with the Xperia Pro to enable users to live stream the feed from their cameras in real time, supporting services like YouTube and Twitch.

Connectivity options on the Sony Xperia Pro (2021) include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/Yes, GPS, Bluetooth v5.10, NFC, USB Type-C, 3G, and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). At the rear aspect, the phone features 12-megapixel wide, telephoto, and ultrawide cameras.

"Combining the speed of 5G and the connectivity of an HDMI input, Xperia Pro is created to empower creators with real-time content sharing and distribution, opening up a new world of possibilities for professional workflow", Sony Electronics executive Neal Manowitz said in a press statement. This model will subsequently not be launched in Europe, according to Sony. There are a few Sony Xperia Pro features that are quite interesting, though.
