The new BMW M5 CS arrives to become a classic object of desire with 635 hp, reduced weight, bolder character and of course, the characteristic handling of what BMW says is the most powerful letter in the world, M. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

After some teasing, the BMW M5 CS has been unveiled, and in line with past M models bearing the CS suffix, the latest M sedan gets more power, less weight and a sprinkling of motorsport-inspired styling. That's all done now, because the M5 CS is here, and it's fast. The new M5 CS is 230 pounds lighter than the M5 Competition, making it more agile than its predecessor. Initial news of the 2022 BMW M5 Competition Sport is that it beat the 991-generation Porsche 911 GT3's lap time in the Lausitzring Track. 20-inch Y-spoke forged Gold Bronze wheels complete the aggressive look and inside the cabin, four standalone carbon bucket seats provide superior stability. The interior features fine-grain Merino leather on the front seats and Merino leather counterparts at the rear seats, illuminated M5 logos on the front seats, Alcantara steering wheel and headliners and contrasting panels in Mugello Red. All four seats feature an outline of the 12.9-mile Nurburgring Nordschleife loop, where we saw more than a few M5 CS prototypes turning laps.

Inside, the driver and the front passenger get M Carbon seats while the two other passengers get individual rear seats. This has been achieved by using super lightweight carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the M5 CS' bonnet, engine cover, intake silencer, ORVM caps, front splitter, rear spoiler and the rear diffuser. Plus, the L-shaped tubes of the BMW Laser headlights glow yellow instead of the standard white, a change that harks back to the GT race cars of yesteryear.

Available in Brands Hatch Grey metallic, Frozen Brands Hatch Grey metallic and Frozen Deep Green metallic (as seen here), the BMW M5 CS goes on sale in the Northern Hemisphere spring of 2021 at 180,400 euros (RM887,096).

The car's headline-grabbing statistics begin with a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 now delivering 7kW more than an M5 Competition, for a total of 467kW and 750Nm.
