An affiliate of the subversive, experimental pop label PC Music, SOPHIE co-produced QT's scene-shaking "Hey QT" with A.G Cook in 2014.

Sophie, the Grammy-nominated Scottish disc jockey, producer and recording artist who had worked with the likes of Madonna and Charli XCX, has died following an accident in the Greek capital of Athens.

According to statements by both the Sophie's record label, Transgressive, and publicist, Ludovica Ludinatrice, Sophie was in Athens, Greece, and "climbed up to watch the full moon" and then "slipped and fell", dying at 4 a.m. local time.

She added: "We need to honor and respect her memory and legacy".

An official statement from the artist's team has confirmed the news to NME. Early singles like "BIPPP" and "Lemonade" began to earn critical acclaim for their unconventional take on pop, blending abrasion with accessibility.

In 2015, she worked with Madonna on the single B****: I'm Madonna and also worked with Charli XCX on her EP Vroom Vroom.

Rapid Testing To Begin At Pearson Airport
Ford is announcing that air travellers arriving at Pearson Airport from another country must undergo a rapid COVID-19 test. Provincial labs will begin that initiative February 3, with the goal of screening all positive tests in the province.

Early on, SOPHIE remained ostensibly anonymous and avoided being photographed, but in 2018 came out as trans. At this time respect and privacy for the family is our priority.

"Sophie was a pioneer of a new sound, one of the most influential artists in the last decade", it read.

"Sophie was a stellar producer, a visionary, a reference", Héloïse Letissier, also known as Chris, wrote on Twitter after the news broke on Saturday morning.

A visionary artist who altered the very fabric of pop and electronic music, SOPHIE's influence on electronic music culture can not be understated.

"To be truly deserving of this award involved not only changing the sound of today's music, but also ripping apart a deeply entrenched and deeply flawed patriarchal society", she said while collecting her award.

In an interview with Paper magazine's Pride issue in 2018, SOPHIE said: "Transness is taking control to bring your body more in line with your soul and spirit so the two aren't fighting against each other and struggling to survive". I can't believe she is gone. "It means you're not a mother or a father - you're an individual who's looking at the world and feeling the world", the musician, who did not use gendered pronouns, said.
