No tuna in Subway's tuna sandwiches, lawsuit claims CBS News

Subway is facing a scandalous $5 million lawsuit after two customers from the Bay Area in California claimed the sandwich company's tuna was fake. Apparently, the individual who filed the lawsuit had multiple independent lab tests done, which supposedly revealed that Subway blended together multiple "concoctions" to imitate tuna.

However, a Subway rep has denied the fake tuna allegations and claimed the accusations were "baseless" and "frivolous", the New York Post reports. The lawsuit accuses Subway of fraud, intentional and negligent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment.

The lawsuit also claims that "buyers are often willing to pay more for tuna. because they associate the ingredient as having higher nutritional value, including greater protein levels".

In a mail to The Washington Post, it is reported that she wrote that the main ingredient is made of anything but tuna and they found that 'ingredients were not tuna and not fish'.

Rapid Testing To Begin At Pearson Airport
Ford is announcing that air travellers arriving at Pearson Airport from another country must undergo a rapid COVID-19 test. Provincial labs will begin that initiative February 3, with the goal of screening all positive tests in the province.

If certified as a class-action, the suit could potentially represent thousands of Subway customers who bought tuna sandwiches or wraps after January 21, 2017, in California, where it has 2,266 locations.

Subway's website now lists a tuna sandwich as "flaked tuna blended with creamy mayo then topped with your choice of crisp, fresh veggies".

In New England, a tuna footlong sandwich is $8.99, while the black forest ham footlong is $7.19. "Subway delivers 100% cooked tuna to its restaurants, which is mixed with mayonnaise and used in freshly made sandwiches, wraps and salads that are served to and enjoyed by our guests".

Last year, the Irish Supreme Court ruled that the "bread " surrounding sandwiches made by the fast food chain Subway had too much sugar to meet the legal definition of bread.
