Silento Arrested and Charged for the Murder of His Cousin

Reports conclude that the rapper is now being held in DeKalb County Jail.

Silento has become the latest hip-hop artist to have a run-in with the law for a crime related to gun violence.

"Today, Ricky Hawk, 23, was arrested for the murder of his cousin Frederick Rooks, 34", Georgia's DeKalb County Police Department announced on Monday (Feb. 1).

Silento, the rapper best known for his song "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)", has been arrested for felony murder.

The newspaper had reported previously that police responded to a call of shots fired on January 21 about 3:30 a.m.in the community of Panthersville in DeKalb County.

Neighbors heard several gunshots and alerted authorities, the report says.

Early in the investigation, authorities believed Rooks knew one of the residents at the scene on Deep Shoals Circle in the Panthersville area.

This isn't Silento's first legal trouble.

Silentó had a history of legal trouble, having been arrested in August 2020 following a domestic disturbance. At the time, he was booked and released on a charge of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.

One day after the arrest, he was taken into custody again after he stormed into a stranger's house wielding a hatchet, claiming to be looking for his girlfriend. The bond was then revoked after he missed his scheduled court appearance.

Silento has been arrested for murdering his cousin.
