This won't be the first time that Sonic has starred in his own animated series.

"Sonic Prime", a family-friendly, 24-episode animated series starring the popular video game character, is set to premiere on the streamer in 2022, Netflix, Sega of America and Wildbrain announced Monday. Say hello to Sonic Prime!

The 24-episode series will feature the iconic video game character on a high-octane adventure where the fate of a unusual multiverse rests in his hands. "Sonic's adventure is about more than a race to save the universe, it's a journey of self-discovery and redemption".

There's also The Witcher: Blood Origin, a live action Resident Evil series, a Cuphead animated series, a live action movie based on The Division, and a Beyond Good and Evil animated movie all in production for the streaming service.

Gearing up for another winter hit
The storm is even expected to spread snow into northern New England, benefiting ski areas in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. The heaviest rain and snow is projected to fall tonight through Tuesday in the valley, foothills, Sierra, and Cascades.

Sonic Prime is executive produced by Man of Action Entertainment, who is known as the creative team behind Ben 10 and Big Hero 6, will also be serving as showrunners.

Netflix is working with studio WildBrain, Man of Action Entertainment and Sonic video game maker Sega on the project. The official confirmation today confirms that the animate show will air in 2022, and is targeted at kids aged six to eleven years of age, as well as the blue hedgehog's many older fans around the globe. "With over 1.14 billion game units sold and downloaded to date, an exciting feature film, a robust licensing program and more, SEGA's iconic hedgehog continues to surprise and delight audiences worldwide".

A sequel is in the making though, but that isn't the only filmisation of Sonic we have to look forward to.
