A man opened fire on seven family members-ultimately killing five children and one man-inside a home in Muskogee, Okla., early Tuesday before emerging with a gun in front of police.

Police received a call around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday about people having been shot at the home in Muskogee, a city of about 37,000 residents roughly a 40-mile drive southeast of Tulsa.

Hamlin described the slain youths as "small children" but said police do not yet have their exact ages. The shot missed. The suspect fled, but he was soon caught. Officers also encountered Jarron Deajon Pridgeon with a gun and took him into custody.

More information will be released today.

Comic fans will recognize the style as a similar look to the Thunderstrike era of the character from the 1980s. The photos show Chris Pratt and Chris Hemsworth having a conversation, likely between shots.

Muskogee Police Chief Johnny Teehee said he thinks it was a domestic incident, according to KJRH.

Officers at the scene found one man and four children dead. Emergency crews transported a fifth child to a Tulsa hospital by helicopter, who later died. She said authorities don't yet have a motive but do not believe any other suspects are involved.

Authorities have not released his name or any details about the people who died. A woman is being treated for life threatening injuries at a Tulsa hospital.

Court records indicate that Pridgeon has a criminal history, which includes charges of assault and battery with a unsafe weapon, threatening to perform act of violence and malicious injury to property under $1,000 stemming from an incident in 2019.
