Burr faces censure by North Carolina GOP for voting to convict Trump

The Louisiana GOP said Saturday that it unanimously voted to censure Cassidy because of his vote.

"I said, "Mr president, this MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement needs to continue".

After the vote, McConnell once again said Trump was responsible for the January 6 riot.

Republican senators who voted to convict former President Donald Trump were rebuked by GOP chapters in their states, with many local groups either censuring them or considering doing so. The evidence is compelling that President Trump is guilty of inciting an insurrection against a coequal branch of government and that the charge rises to the level of high Crimes and Misdemeanors. Toomey was censured by five GOP chapters in his state over his vote to convict Trump. "Senator Burr did NOT vote the will of the people and should be held accountable".

Burr had voted that the Trump impeachment trial was unconstitutional but later voted to convict Trump.

Some Utah Republicans are hoping to censure Sen.

"The oath that I took to the constitution compelled me to vote for impeachment and it doesn't bend to partisanship", Ms Cheney told "Fox News Sunday".

"If you want to get something off your chest, fine, but I'm into winning", he added later in the interview. But in a scathing speech on the Senate floor just after the vote, McConnell said Trump was "practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of that day" while also arguing that he believed the trial was unconstitutional because Trump was no longer in office.
