Province Confirms 904 New Cases of COVID-19 This Morning

Once the orders are lifted, regions will move back into the province's colour-coded system, which will allow all retail to reopen with specific guidelines depending on the colour.

Here is how the current hotspots compare to other regions across the GTA - including Halton, Durham, and Hamilton; three public health units that recently moved to the province's "Red-Control" zone which means businesses can now operate under specific capacity.

During a briefing on COVID-19 projections last week, Dr. Adalsteinn Brown, co-chair of Ontario's science advisory group, said that while cases have been decreasing, more contagious variants are spreading and now account for five to 10 per cent of all cases.

Schools boards in Peel and York regions closed schools and cancelled bus services due to heavy snowfall, though classes continued virtually.

Of the four remaining regions under a stay-at-home order, Toronto reported 257 new cases, Peel, 170 cases, York, 131 cases and North Bay/Parry Sound, zero cases.

The Public Health Agency of Canada has said more than 335,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be delivered in the coming days following a weeks-long slowdown that forced provinces to curtail their immunization efforts.

There are now confirmed cases of the UK, South African, and Brazilian COVID-19 variants in the province.
