508 cases, 6 deaths in final update of the week

The Ministry of Health has reported 4,782 new recoveries and a total of 244,753 patients have recovered and discharged so far. There is now a total of 213,400 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland. "If a case has not been reported as a death, and it is more than 30 days past the date of their first positive test (or onset of symptoms) then an individual is considered recovered".

The department is reporting a recovery rate of 88 percent state-wide.

In travel news, Transport Canada stated on February 18 that two passengers, who took flights from Mexico to Canada on January 23, have been fines of $10,000 and $7,000 respectively for presenting false or misleading COVID-19 test results and for making false declarations about their health statuses.

The 14-day incidence rate stands at 299.9 with the number of cases over that period at 254.

The new numbers bring the state's totals to 358,467 cases and 5,336 deaths since March, according to data analyzed by The Gazette. The weekly total was the lowest since 251 cases were reported in the week ending October 9.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's tally on Friday reported 27,737,875 cases, up 67,437 from the previous day.

The number of patients in intensive care increased from 59 to 60, and the number of patients on ventilators increased from 24 to 26.

According to the department, 2,033 county residents have received both doses of the COVID vaccine and 2,154 more have received one dose.

That puts B.C. lower than Alberta (48 percent), Ontario (51 percent), Saskatchewan and Manitoba (54 percent), and Quebec (56 percent) in that category.

Gustafson said there are 19 active outbreaks in healthcare facilities, which includes 13 in longterm care facilities and six in acute care facilities.

In Johnson County, 38,158 doses have been administered, with 11,842 people - 9.78 percent of the county's population - having completed both shots.

York Region, meanwhile, passed a motion asking to be placed in the Red-Control zone with additional modified restrictions. He encouraged people to reach out to those they know in that age group to ensure they learn about vaccine opportunities.
