Should Gov. Andrew Cuomo ever step down or be impeached, Hochul would become the 57th governor of NY.

Hours later, Anna Ruch, 33, told the New York Times that she met the now 63-year-old Cuomo at a wedding in September 2019.

Dr Dufort was one of nine medical professionals who left their role after Cuomo scorned the advice of experts, The New York Times reported last month.

The account from Ruch, who worked as a photographer at the White House during President Barack Obama's second term, made her the second woman to accuse Cuomo of touching her without permission, and fueled broader calls for Cuomo to step down, including from some in his own party.

Cuomo responded over the weekend to accusations of harassment from two former female staff members by saying his actions were attempts at being amusing and were misinterpreted.

"A year into the pandemic, and as New Yorkers receive the vaccine, the temporary emergency powers have served their objective - it is time for them to be repealed", Heastie said in a statement.

Several members of the National Governors Association said they support the investigation, but didn't say whether they think he should resign as chair.

Two former female aides to Mr. Cuomo have also accused him of sexual harassment.

Bennett's lawyer, Debra Katz, said her client will cooperate fully with the attorney general's investigation.

He has denied ever inappropriately touching or propositioning anyone. A probe by the NY attorney general's office found the number of state nursing home resident deaths from the virus may have been undercounted by as much as 50%. She said Cuomo told her he was lonely and looking for a girlfriend.

Days later Charlotte Bennett, 25, then said Cuomo quizzed her about her sex life and asked whether she would be open to a relationship with an older man.

Andrew Cuomo is seen last Wednesday at the opening of a state-FEMA mass vaccination site at York College in Queens.

A spokesman for Mr. Cuomo didn't respond to requests for comment about calls for his resignation. The governor has been under federal probes over deaths at nursing homes during the pandemic. "Here for you always", Bennett tweeted Monday.

Boylan, 36, alleged that the governor had given her an unsolicited kiss on the lips, suggested that they play strip poker and went "out of his way to touch me on my lower back, arms and legs". In a statement Sunday, he acknowledged that he had teased people about their personal lives in an attempt to be "playful" and amusing.

"I felt so uncomfortable and embarrassed when really he is the one who should have been embarrassed", Ruch told newspaper.

"The notion that his behaviour was simply unwanted "flirtation" that may have caused "offence" entirely ignores a workplace hierarchy in which he - the governor of the state - was positioned at the very top", Tuerkheimer said.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who has had a contentious relationship with Cuomo for years, said Tuesday that 'if these allegations are true, he can not govern'.

"A person who treats women this way is not fit to govern", Liu said.

Cuomo's statement drew immediate backlash from critics who said he was throwing responsibility onto the women by saying they perceived his statements wrongly.
