Stop Asian Hate rally at Vancouver Art Gallery draws over 1,000 people

"It's important to stand behind our Asian community, not only in this country, but in this city", she said. "But I won't let it".

Tulsans from all walks of life gathered Friday at the Center of the Universe in downtown Tulsa for a Stop Asian Hate rally.

"We stand together with Asian-American and Asian-Canadian women who are traumatized by this ongoing misogyny, racism, and stand against the policing and abuse of massage parlour workers and sex workers who are criminalized by the state and face discrimination by society", rally organizers said in a news release.

"As I come here, what comes to mind is the idea that this could have been anywhere", Kim, who is Korean American, said.

Another rally held by anti-maskers also passed the anti-racism rally, with one of that group (holding a sign saying "I will never wear a mask") making an anti-Asian comment.

"Stop Demonizing China and Chinese People!" read some signs wielded by demonstrators in Atlanta, as others were emblazoned with messages like "Say No to Anti-Asian Racist Terror!" "Solidarity is our Superpower", said Tanisha Arena, the executive director of Arise for Social Justice. "This is part of the many attacks, spike in attacks that we've been seeing across the country targeting Asian-American communities".

"With love we can do anything and everything", Daniel Xue said.

As a Black man, Hurst said it was easy for him to fight for justice for the Black community in the spring and summer when large protests and rallies were held in reaction to the killing of George Floyd by a white police officer in Minneapolis.

An organization monitoring discrimination against Asians says there were more than 3,700 reports of discrimination and violence inflicted on Asians during a roughly one-year period through February.
