Henry said on Monday that the province's public-health team and B.C. Immunization Committee were working with perinatal teams to review data on the risks of COVID-19 to pregnant women.

Henry says prioritizing those 16 years and older who are pregnant for vaccination will help protect them, their babies and the wider community.

The Biden administration on Wednesday came out in support of waiving intellectual property protections for Covid-19 vaccines, a breakthrough for worldwide efforts to suspend patent rules as the pandemic rages in India and South America.

"Over the coming month, more than one million vaccine doses will be delivered to our province, with more anticipated for June, giving the vast majority of eligible people access to a vaccine before Canada Day".

"The Administration believes strongly in intellectual property protections, but in service of ending this pandemic, supports the waiver of those protections for COVID-19 vaccines".

But as per the letter by Jordan and Issa, the waiver would undermine the very innovation that has led to the record-breaking rapid development of COVID-19 vaccines already saving lives around the world, and it would not meaningfully improve vaccine availability. "For example, the Serum Institute of India has secured licenses to produce multiple vaccines, including the AstraZeneca and Novavax vaccines", it said. This has in turn exacerbated the global shortage as the country is the world's biggest producer of Covid shots. More than 43 per cent of the population aged 18 and over have received at least one dose and over 381,000 Ontarians are fully immunized, including 95 per cent of long-term care residents. We all need to register to reserve our spot and book our vaccine as soon as we are eligible.

Andrew Brown Jr. attorneys to release independent autopsy results
Brown was shot and killed last Wednesday as Pasquotank County Sheriff's deputies were serving a warrant on felony drug charges. The emergency declaration went into effect at 8 a.m. and Parker said it will last "until deemed no longer necessary".

Experts question the wisdom of devoting limited vaccine supplies to a low-risk group instead of sharing them with high-risk groups overseas. In the month of May alone, we'll be receiving over a million doses of vaccine available for people across the province.

"I applaud President Biden and his administration for taking this bold step in response to the world's most urgent crisis", Sanders (I-Vt.) said in a statement.

Dr. Samantha Nutt of War Child Canada told CTV News Channel's Power Play the support of the this move is a "game-changer" and it's "a little confounding" Canada hasn't followed suit.

In the Middle East, Egypt announced a partial shutdown of malls and restaurants and called off festivities for the Muslim holidays of Eid al-Fitr to curb rising coronavirus cases.

Respect for intellectual property rights has been a cornerstone of the U.S. trade policy for decades and should not be set aside lightly, the Republican Congressmen said.
