Three children killed in a shooting in Publix, Palm Beach County

On Thursday, police in Palm Beach County, Florida, responded to a shooting near a Publix grocery store.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office also tweeted about the incident, writing, "Detectives are investigating a shooting that took place INSIDE Publix in RPB". She didn't say whether the shooter was a man or a woman, but said the shooter was among the three dead.

The three fatalities were only described as a man, a woman and a child. "Detectives are in the beginning stages of determining what led up to the shooting".

Investigators are investigating the cause of the shooting, officials said.

Juan Guardia said he was in the supermarket's deli area when chaos erupted.

In a statement obtained by WKMG-TV, a spokesperson for the large grocery store chain said, "Our thoughts are with those who are impacted by this tragedy".

Royal Palm Beach is a village of about 40,000 people, according to Census Bureau data.
