The Biden administration plans to donate 500 million Pfizer coronavirus vaccine doses to almost 100 countries over the next two years, three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Wednesday.

Biden last month broke with European allies to endorse waiving intellectual property rules at the World Trade Organization to promote vaccine production and equity.

President Joe Biden will announce the news at the G7 summit in Cornwall, England, this week, the person said. Moderna did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Biden hinted at the announcement before boarding Air Force One bound for Britain to meet with leaders with the Group of 7 nations.
